Our colleagues in Guatemala and the Dominican Republic recently organized visits to nursing homes in their local communities. For each visit, a team of volunteers joined residents for several fun activities, such as board games, arts and crafts, or simply to engage in conversation.
Annual medical, dental and feeding mission in the Philippines

Each year our colleagues in the Philippines participate in a medical, dental and feeding mission during which they provide the less fortunate with much needed support. The team recently partnered with the Foreign Buyers’ Association of the Philippines, the Philippine Rotary Club and the Caloocan Filipino-Chinese Charity Clinic to care for underprivileged families at Nangka High School in Marikina City. Prior to the trip, our colleagues collected cash and product donations from across our different businesses and partners to organize relief packs, which were distributed to 500 families. In total, 1,355 people received medical checkups, 123 received dental checkups, 240 received eye exams and 1,400 individuals took part in the feeding program.
Nepal earthquake relief campaign

More than 3,500 Li & Fung colleagues from 25 offices raised over US$107,000 to support relief efforts in helping children and families impacted by the earthquake to rebuild their lives. These efforts were amplified by a matching donation from the Fung (1906) Foundation.
Supporting the Cambodian Children’s Fund

Our people are very passionate about helping those in need including some of the more remote areas in our sourcing communities. Recently, our colleagues in Cambodia volunteered a day to visit a community center run by Cambodia Children’s Fund (CCF), a local NGO that seeks to help disadvantaged kids in some of the country’s most impoverished communities through education, family support and community development programs. They spent time getting to know the children, playing games, and learning first-hand about the support they receive from CCF’s programs. The day included lunch and distributing care packages with amenities such as toothpaste, toothbrushes and soap to all of the children.
Giving back to the elderly in Hong Kong

Our colleagues in Hong Kong joined forces to give back to the elderly in the Sham Shui Po area, which neighbors Li & Fung’s Hong Kong headquarters in Lai Chi Kok. Hong Kong’s low-income elderly population faces particular challenges, with a public housing shortage often causing the elderly to wait three to five years before they can be placed in an assisted-living facility. In order to support themselves while they wait for housing, many elderly collect waste and recyclables. Even when they are accepted into an assisted-living facility, elderly couples may be separated, which causes additional emotional stress and strain.
Our colleagues in Hong Kong decided to address some of these issues through a variety of activities including taking the elderly for a fun day out in Hong Kong, collecting food and health products from our distribution business to donate to the community, and organizing small teams to visit elderly people in the neighborhood once a month on an ongoing basis.
